Ohio Unions Score Victory by Defeating Issue 2

November 9, 2011 Updated Nov 9, 2011 at 11:56 AM EDT

OHIO (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Union workers in Ohio scored a major victory with the defeat of a new Republican-backed state law.

Voters largely rejected the "Issue 2" measure Tuesday, which was a referendum on an Ohio bill to limit collective bargaining for hundreds of thousands of public workers.

The funding of campaigns for and against the law reached into the millions.

Republican Ohio Governor John Kasich supported the law.

Tuesday night, he re-issued a warning that the state must still cut down labor costs.
