GULF OF MEXICO (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Scientists from the University of Georgia said that up to 80 percent of the oil released by the Deep Water Horizon Well is still in the Gulf of Mexico, sharply contradicting recent claims from Washington.

The clouds of oil that lie thousands of feet down don't pose a direct threat to humans but, they do to some marine life, including whales who hunt in deep depths.

The study, which used the government data, challenges an Obama Administration assessment that the crude is largely gone or rapidly disappearing.
