FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- Valentine's Day is a day focused on love and the "One Billion Rising" event is focused on showing victims of domestic violence, rape and bullying a some compassion.

"One Billion Rising" is a nation-wide effort to bring awareness to the public on the rising numbers of domestic violence, rape and bullying cases world-wide. The event will take place at noon on Thursday, February, 14 at Parkview Field. The events occurring simultaneously across the nation will be broadcast live around the world.

According to the organization's website, 1 in 3 women have experienced sexual, physical, emotional or other assault/violence which equals about one billion individuals.

People can attend to show support but the focus of the event is to dance in solidarity to express serious concern about ending this violence.

Event coordinators say that they are concerned with raising local numbers of incidents and they believe if this issue gets more attention, the community can contribute to a future decline in local numbers of these cases.
