FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - The Salvation Army needs your help to bring relief to Fort Wayne residents whose health is being affected by these extreme temperatures.
"Operation Cool Breeze" needs more new or gently used fans or air conditioning units.
Officials say the heat wave has already brought more than 50-people to the North Clinton Street location and they desperately need more donations.
Salvation Army Social Service Director Timothy Smith says, “If you have special conditions, you know, you have a baby at home, elderly individuals, or if you have trouble breathing even when it's cool out. That can really put pressure on you when you have weather like this and really cause problems.”
Many times a doctor's note is needed to get a fan or AC unit.
Visit the Operation Cool Breeze website for more information on how to receive assistance, or how to make your tax deductible donation.
