Phony $100 Bills Used For Hundreds Of Singles At Strip Clubs

INDIANAPOLIS (21Alive) -- Indianapolis police have questioned two men after investigating the use of fake $100 bills at a local strip club. Police told RTV6 that the two men passed off eight phony $100 bills in exchange for real $1 bills and paid off a bar tab using counterfeit money.

Managers at Rick’s Cabaret on Lafayette Rd. told police that a man had exchanged seven $100 bills, that were later discovered to be counterfeit, for $1 bills. Descriptions of the men and the vehicles they drove away in were taken from surveillance video from Rick’s Cabaret.

Police caught up with two men who matched the description after they spotted the vehicles that also matched the description at a second strip club, the Sunset Strip on 16th St.

Both suspects, a 29 year old and a 32 year old, were detained and a search of one of the vehicles resulted in the officers finding "a large amount of cash", along with materials related to the selling of narcotics. The car was impounded as officers gathered evidence for any possible criminal charges resulting from the incident.

The two men have not been charged yet but RTV6 reports that Marion County records show both men have been arrested in the past for dealing drugs and carrying unregistered firearms.

Police have confiscated the fake bills, real cash and the items that were found in the car. Club managers have also offered surveillance footage to aid in the investigation.
