FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - One man is dead after being shot in broad daylight while standing on the sidewalk.

Officials with the Fort Wayne Police Department say crews arrived on scene around 1:30 Wednesday afternoon, on reports of shots fired.

They found an adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound in the 3300 block of Lillie Street.

Neighbors say they thought they heard three gunshots and then walked out to see the victim laying unconscious on the east side of Lillie Street.

The unidentified victim was rushed to the hospital where he later died.

Officer Mike Joyner says, “The victim was visiting family in the immediate area, left the porch area, and was on the sidewalk curb area at the time of this apparent shooting."

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
