FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - 200 East Berry Street will forever be known as Citizens Square.

You probably recognize the address as the building that received international attention after thousands of Hoosiers voted it to become the Harry Baals Government Center.

That idea has died out, but after more construction, will soon house more than 40 city and county government departments.

Mayor Henry says the design makes the building more user-friendly.

Mayor Henry says, “A lot of the departments that are now the city and county departments that are now located on several floors in this building will be on the same floor. So instead of going floor to floor or in some cases building to building, everything will be on the same floor so you can just go from desk to desk to desk."

Mayor Henry says recognizing just one person would have been a disservice to other individuals who have helped build Fort Wayne.

Henry said, "Quite frankly I was concerned as many other of the decision making bodies were concerned, if we just recognized one person that was really a disservice to the other mayors and other individuals who made significant contributions to our community as well."
