FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Police were called to the 3100 block of Smith St. on reports of a double shooting shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say Jovan Sims, 18, and Brenzel Bryant, 18, were found relatively close to each other in the front yard. Sources tell 21Alive that the two men may have shot each other. Police believe a third person may have been involved.

Police are combing the front, side and back yards of the home, which is very close to Weisser Park Elementary. A mother of a boy at the school told Corinne Rose that the violence needs to stop.

Due to the timing of the shooting Fort Wayne Community Schools were notified so they could take appropriate action regarding student drop off. Smith St was blocked off from Drexel Ave. to Eckart St during the investigation.

No car is believed to be involved in the incident and police say everyone was on foot. Two handguns found at the scene may play a crucial role in the investigation.

Bryant was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and later died. Sims was taken to the hospital in serious condition and has since been downgraded to critical condition.

The Allen County Coroner ruled the manner of death for Bryant as a homicide. This is the 36th homicide for Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2013.
