Robbery Suspect Shoots at Gas Station Clerk at Downtown Gas Station

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – Police are looking for the suspect in an attempted robbery that took place at the downtown Express BP gas station along Jefferson Blvd.

The suspect reportedly entered the store and approached the store clerk brandishing a handgun and demanding cash. As the store clerk fled to the rear of the store, the perpetrator fired several shots at the clerk. The clerk was not injured. The perpetrator fled the store on foot, and possibly northbound along Clay Street.

The suspect is a black man, approximately 5’8”, medium to heavy build, described as ‘stocky’ or ‘chubby’; last seen wearing a dark-colored long-sleeved shirt, a yellow reflective traffic vest with a triangular design on back, and jeans.
