FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - It was an emotional Friday morning in an Allen County courtroom as a woman asked the judge for leniency for her role in the death of 2-year-old Jeziah King.
Natasha Hawkins told the judge, she was "truly sorry and never meant to hurt anyone". She pleaded guilty last month to "aiding a battery causing death".
Judge Fran Gull sentenced Hawkins to 30-years for her role in the death. King's mother, Latisha Lawson, was sentenced in June to 62-years in the death of her son. Lawson's mother and young daughter both told the judge that Hawkins was just as guilty in the asphyxiation death of Jesiah.
