UNITED STATES (www.incnow.tv) - Now that the U.S. Supreme Court has issued its decisions about same-sex marriage, what do they mean for gay Hoosiers?
Nothing has been said yet, but that goes to say for all 38 states that do not allow same-sex marriage.
The question is, how will the Supreme Court’s decisions be implemented and how could they impact each state?
Indiana law says marriage is defined as between one man and one woman, but in 2011, Indiana's legislature passed an amendment to the state constitution to ban gay marriage.
As a matter of procedure, it must be passed again next session before it can go to the public for a vote in 2014. Until then, uncertainty about how to apply federal benefits to same-sex spouses will likely continue.
