FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - No one was hurt in yet another weekend house fire in the Summit City. Fort Wayne Fire Department (FWFD) responded to the call just before 1 a.m. Saturday in the 4300 block of Avondale Drive.
When units arrived, the visible smoke was heavy and came from the one story home. According to the report, FWFD used what they called an interior attack to control the flames and had the situation under control within 16 minutes.
A working fire detector alerted six residents of the impending smoke and flames, allowing them to evacuate the home even before responders arrived. The heavy fire damage is concentrated in the kitchen and living room areas of the home. Investigators are still unsure what caused the fire and continue to investigate this incident.
