COESSE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- A Whitley County barn with a rich history is gone after a fire earlier this week.
The owners of the Stockamp Ranch tell us the barn was built in the 1850s.
Tom Stockamp says in the past, it was a popular gathering place for many politicians.
It was even once owned, years ago, by the National Chair of the Democratic Party who hosted many events there.
Owner Tom Stockamp says, "It had all hand hewn timbers, it had the old peg and dowel connection, it was a most, most, most unique barn, and it's gone, so we can't ever replace that barn, but there will be a new barn going up, you bet."
The Fire Chief says the cause of the fire can't be determined because of the intensity of the blaze and the damage it did.
Stockamp says they do plan to rebuild a barn in the same location.
