Stranded Motorist Hit While Crossing the Street

Noble County, IN (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Noble County police are investigating an early morning crash, where a car hit a woman who was crossing the road after going for help.

Around 4:45 Monday morning, 53-year-old Scott Miller of Kendallville called 911, saying he'd just hit a woman on U.S. 6, near 1050 West in Ligonier.

Police found the 27-year-old Heather Scott from Hartford City, had run out of gas and had walked across the road to see if anyone at the Cottonwood Campground could help her.

Scott was hit as she was returning to her car, and died at the scene.
