Summer Fun In Indiana Is Restricted By June Drought

Indiana (Indiana's NewsCenter) - The June drought has forced Department of Natural Resources officials to close several beaches and put restrictions on activities in state parks.

While several Indiana beaches are closed such as the one in Raccoon Lake, this year's drought has placed restrictions on weekend campers as well.

Burn bans are in place at Chain O'Lakes, Quabache, Pokagon and Salamonie state parks.

At the moment, more than 80 percent of the state is suffering from at least a moderate drought. This June will most likely be known as one of the driest Junes on record.

Therefore, whether people are swimming or camping, DNR officials are placing a strong emphasis on using extreme caution.
