INDIANA (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - A Fort Wayne mother testified before an Indiana House panel Wednesday afternoon to underscore the dangers of texting while driving.
Diveeta Thompson's 18-year-old son Rodney was killed in a 2008 car accident on Dicke Road that was caused by texting.
Thompson testified in favor of a bill that passed out of committee that would make it illegal for any drivers to use a phone to type, transmit or read a text message while driving.
The current ban only applies to drivers up to age 18.
