INDIANAPOLIS (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - The Indiana Senate has approved a proposed amendment banning gay marriages and civil unions.
The current state law prohibits gay marriages but this measure would provide maximum protection for the basic family unit of society.
The House approved the amendment last month before the Democrat walk-out.
The measure must pass both the House and Senate again in either 2013 or 2014, before voters can see it on the 2014 ballot.
