WARREN, Mi. (My TV20 News at 10) -- 22-year-old Latonya Bowman is lucky to be alive - and so is the baby she gave birth to Tuesday.
The two men who Warren police say attacked her, shot her and set her on fire last Friday were in court Tuesday for their arraignment. They are Antonio Mathis and Jamal Rogers.
According to Warren Police, Rogers is the father of the Bowman's baby. They say Rogers did not want the additional responsibility of another child since he already had fathered two children by two other women.
Mathis and Rogers were both charged with conspiracy to commit homicide, unlawful imprisonment, and assault with intent to murder.
A judge denied bond for the two.
Warren Deputy Commissioner Louis Galasso, says he is exceptionally proud of Warren Police and how they handled the case. And he is proud of Bowman's resilience and determination to live.
Warren Police say Bowman was gagged and bound at one house in Warren, then taken by her attackers to another house, where she was set on fire, and shot. They say she pretended to be dead and then managed to get to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan.
