Fort Wayne, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – Local university expands its presence in downtown Fort Wayne.

At a Monday afternoon press conference the University of Saint Francis announced its intent to purchase the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce building at 826 Ewing St. for its Keith Busse School of Business and Entrepreneurial Leadership. The closing of the deal is expected sometime over the next few months.

The chamber building has been for sale since 2010.

University President, Sister Elise Kriss says that moving the business school to a new location opens up the main campus space for the School of Arts and Sciences.

The chamber is expected to remain in the building through the spring of 2013 while they look for new office space in the downtown area.

Before the 300-500 business students start showing up for classes the building will need to go through a renovation process which is expected to cost around $5 million.
