Fort Wayne, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – The Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki announced that VA Hospital's across the nation will be adding to its workforce. And Fort Wayne looks to add 14 more staff members to its facility.
The Fort Wayne VA currently employs 197 mental health clinicians and support staff.
Secretary Shinseki noted that “as the tide of war recedes, we have the opportunity, and the responsibility, to anticipate the needs of returning Veterans.”
The nationwide hiring blitz is apart of the Mental Health Hiring Initiative, which aims to hire approximately 1,600 mental health clinicians as well as nearly 300 support staff to its existing VA workforce as quickly as possible.
