Warsaw, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Warsaw police are investigating over two dozen thefts of items from parked vehicles all over the city. The items taken vary from purses and wallets, to laptop computers and electronics.

A majority of the thefts have occurred to unlocked vehicles at or near the owner's residence. Some vehicles were broken into to gain access when the article was visible.

On Friday, August 17, police arrested Gene Poe, 28, of Warsaw, with criminal trespass after one of the victim's identified Mr. Poe to police after observing him in his vehicle. Police located several items in Mr. Poe's pockets that could implicate him in several other thefts. Additional charges are expected to be filed against Poe.

Police wish to remind residents to lock their vehicles, even while at home. The best practice is to not leave purses, wallets, or electronics of any kind in vehicles when unattended.
