Are Your Bulbs Budding?

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Temperatures have hit 50° on more than one occasion in the past month. Our winter weather has felt more like Spring, and since our plants don't have a calendar on hand, they don't know the difference.

Some bulbs have started to bud with the milder weather. There's not much you can do except hope for some snow to fall and cover them up and cool them down. If this happens, they're more likely to temporarily stop growing, and then start back up again in the Spring once it warms up for good.

Don't worry about the harsh weather killing your plants. Bulbs are notoriously hardy. The worst that could happen is the plant doesn't bloom this year. Since it looks like colder weather is right around the corner, most plants should be just fine.
