FORT WAYNE, Ind. (NBC33) – The 2013 holiday season will forever be remembered as the year of the gaming console. The PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One were both introduced in recent weeks, and both appear to be very similar.

They are also becoming equally hard to come by.

The Xbox One is very interactive for the user boasting voice command which allows users to toggle between games, television, and other media uses. Another “new” function of the Xbox One is the Kinect camera, which is a movement sensing device to give an "in the game" feel. While the technology is not new to the Xbox line, it is much improved from its Xbox 360 design.

The PS4 has its own motion-sensing technology with its “PlayStation camera" device, but gamers are more likely to notice the touch-screen controller which adds yet another dimension of user involvement.

Both gaming consoles feature Bluray players, which is new to the Xbox, making these two devices very comparable, and very exciting.

"Typically it's new, hot electronics but the gaming systems seem to be the thing that really drives that kind of excitement,” says Scott Hoffman, Store Director of the Lima Road Meijer. “Throughout our company, within 20 minutes to half an hour every system that we had in the company was gone."

We put calls into nearly every Walmart, Meijer, Best Buy, and GameStop store in the area and just about all of them are sold out. What we can tell you is that only a few of either console are left in Fort Wayne.
