FORT WAYNE, Ind. (NBC33) - Frequent visitors to Lakeside Park have likely noticed green fencing and silver streamers lining the pond's bank.

City landscapers tell NBC33 those are a protective measure being taken to preserve the shores of the pond from corrosion, and more importantly, geese.

The long-term project calls for tall grass to be grown on the banks of the pond, but geese are very problematic due to their grazing nature. Because of them, the grass cannot grow to the desired height.

Officials with the park department advise visitors to not feed the geese as bread is not a natural food source for geese, and can be very problematic.
