FORT WAYNE, Ind. (NBC33) - Winter weather and icy roads have caused more than a few headaches for drivers on roadways in the area, but it has also resulted in big business for those responsible for clearing those roadways off.

Plow drivers have been working around the clock clearing roads and parking lots throughout the past few weeks, many putting in extensive overtime to do so.

"I had some guys during the blizzard log up to 80 hours in one week," says Mark Nolot, President of Vision Scapes in Fort Wayne. "So it's been nice for them and us. It's good revenue but it is tiring when you've been up for so many long periods of time for so many days."

As Nolot describes it's not just the below freezing temperatures and falling snow that have been causing problems.

"In years past we just haven't had that much drifting. We might have some slight drifting one or two events. We've had so many events where the winds have been so high that things just drift over. So even though the snow has stopped you're still out plowing and you'll have to come back and revisit and visit and revisit."

Nolot says his crews have already laid over one-thousand tons of salt. That is in addition to the 265,000 tons the Indiana Department of Transportation has used.
