FORT WAYNE, Ind. (NBC33) – Wednesday officially marks the beginning to the first annual "Savor Fort Wayne" festival.

It brings together some of Fort Wayne’s classic restaurants at a bargain price.

“People can enjoy 20 of Fort Wayne's favorite restaurants with unique menus and really a fun opportunity to try out some new restaurants maybe they've not tried before,” says Kristen Guthrie with Visit Fort Wayne.

And the excitement is not limited to just diners.

“We really thought it was a great opportunity for us to get across to some of our public that maybe might not visit us on a regular basis,” points out Matthew Nolot, executive chef at Eddie Merlot’s.

Jimmie Schindler, President of Bandidos agrees.

“We were interested in it because it's showcasing local eats, local products that we're very proud of in Fort Wayne. Fort Wayne is a very proud town, has a very deep history with very good restaurants.”

Savor Fort Wayne features a variety of food styles from all over the city as well as restaurants from various price points. The one thing that remains constant is the $30 price tag.

Every restaurant will be offering a three-course meal with a mixture of menu staples as well as special signature dishes for the event.

“We are actually doing two people for $30 and you have your choice of one appetizer, two entrees, and two desserts,” says Schindler. “So we are just going to showcase what we do every day but provide it to the public at a very good price.”

Eddie Merlot’s on the other hand is adding a new, unique dish.

“We have five different entrees, most of them except the vegetarian option is available on our menu,” say Nolot. “That way (if) we have something they like, they can come back and get it again.”

While this is the first year for the event, Guthrie and Visit Fort Wayne hope it is not the last.

“We really do hope this becomes an annual event, we'd really love to see this happen every January where, we just take a week to kind of highlight Fort Wayne restaurants.”
