FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- Police and SWAT surrounded a home in the 3000 block of Holton Ave. south of Pontiac Wednesday afternoon because of a reported hostage situation.
Reporters on the scene saw three people run screaming from the home.
Police confirmed that a child, 3 years old, was inside the home with the man, Kenneth Knight, who was responsible for the shooting death of 49-year-old Jacqueline Bouvier Hardy. Hardy had a restraining order out against Knight. Police say this is a domestic distrubance turned deadly.
A little after 4:30 p.m. a sniper shot and killed Knight. Snipers were ordered that once they had a clean shot of Knight, to take it. Police confirmed that the 3-year-old child was safe and had been returned to the parents. Police say that Knight was not well-known to the child.
