FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.nbc33.com) – It is easily one of the most anticipated events on the city calendar, and has even become one of Indiana's biggest summer celebrations. The 45th Annual Three Rivers Festival is underway in downtown.

Mayor Tom Henry was on-hand this morning to cut the ceremonial ribbon, kicking off the week-long celebration of Fort Wayne with plenty of food, live music, and carnival rides for patrons of all ages.

Organizers say there are a number of family-friendly activities going on across downtown.

"The festival has grown to the second biggest festival in the state of Indiana with nearly 400,000 people every year,” explains Executive Director Jack Hammer. “What makes it special is the memories that have been created over the years, the families that bring the children and grandchildren down. And then also the Three Rivers Festival (is) working hard to keep things interesting."

Area businesses will also be capitalizing on the buzz too, with events happening throughout the week. And as Mayor Tom Henry points out, today’s festival has grown immensely since it’s humble beginnings back in 1969. </mosAbstract>
PIXEL (Page NBC33_2 LINE SUPER MAYOR TOM HENRY|(D) CITY OF FORT WAYNE)
<mosPlugInID>PIXEL.ENPSActiveXCtrl.1</mosPlugInID><objID>23ba7aa5-b662-4466-a8f8-eedf51e24f8d</objID><objSlug>PIXEL (Page NBC33_2 LINE SUPER MAYOR TOM HENRY|(D) CITY OF FORT WAYNE)</objSlug><objDur>1</objDur><itemEdDur>1</itemEdDur><objTB>25</objTB><mosExternalMetadata><mosScope>PLAYLIST</mosScope><mosSchema>ENPS_1.1</mosSchema><mosPayload><JobPathName>\\PPCC-067\E\JOBS\NEWS GRAPHICS.pjz</JobPathName><TemplatePageNumber>1002</TemplatePageNumber><Field><FieldNumber>1</FieldNumber><FieldType>Text</FieldType><FieldFriendlyData></FieldFriendlyData><FieldData>MAYOR TOM HENRY</FieldData></Field><Field><FieldNumber>2</FieldNumber><FieldType>Text</FieldType><FieldFriendlyData></FieldFriendlyData><FieldData>(D) CITY OF FORT WAYNE</FieldData></Field></mosPayload></mosExternalMetadata><itemChannel>1</itemChannel
