Michigan Woman Stingray Death

By Nina Settappa

MARATHON, Fla. (AP) - An autopsy will be conducted on a Michigan
woman who died after a 75-pound stingray flew out of the water and
hit her in the face as she rode in a boat in the Florida Keys.

Officials believe the impact is what killed Judy Zagorski, who
was 57 years old. It's not clear if she received any puncture
wounds from the ray's venomous barb.

The woman's father was driving the boat at the time. It was
moving at about 25 miles-an-hour. Spotted eagle rays are known to occasionally jump out of the water, but they're not aggressive. They use the barb at the end of their tail as a defense mechanism.
