Deputy Mayor Stepping Down

By Nicole Pence

After serving under four mayors in Fort Wayne, Mark Becker says it's time to move on.

Outgoing Deputy Mayor Mark Becker will pack up his desk at the end of the month. He's moving to a position in the private sector, created just for him. He'll become the Director of Regional Development for the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership. He'll also lead it's Foundation.

His resignation is not a surprise to his current boss, Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry. Becker stayed on for Henry's first few months to help with the transition process.

One of the main "architects" behind the City's 120-million dollar Harrison Square Development Project, Becker says he's not worried others are taking the reigns.

Mayor Henry says he's forming a committee to find Becker's replacement as soon as possible.
