Woman Accused of Imprisoning Man in Basement Pleads Guilty

By Nina Settappa

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - One of two Fort Wayne women accused of
tying up a man in their basement has pleaded guilty to a charge of
criminal confinement.

If a judge accepts her plea agreement, 26-year-old Shawn Dean faces up to 10 years in prison when she is sentenced next month. Dean and 25-year-old Desiree Harth were arrested in March after the man flagged down a passing motorist for help.

According to court documents, the women attacked the man, dragged him to the basement and tied him to a pole with an extension cord. The man was able to escape by chewing through the cord.

It wasn't clear why the man was attacked. Harth is scheduled to plead guilty later this week.
