Dog Bites Infant

By Eric Clabaugh

FORT WAYNE-(Indiana's NewsCenter) A dog mauls a young child here in Fort Wayne, putting the boy in the hospital.
The attack happened Saturday morning at an apartment in the 1000-Block of Fayette.
A Cairn Terrier - Poodle-mix puppy allegedly bit the one-month-old boy in the genitals while his mother was sleeping.
The boy was rushed to the hospital where he underwent surgery and we're told he's recovering nicely.
The mother has not been charged in the incident.
The dog was picked up by Animal Care and Control and was euthanized.

Peggy Bender with Animal Care and Control says because babies are something entirely new to a dog, obedience classes before the dog arrives are key.
