Fatal accident details released

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) --- The Kosciusko County Police have released details about a 4th of July fatal accident that killed a 19-year-old Cromwell, Indiana woman.

Police say the accident on East Wawasee Drive north of 1250 North in Kosciusko County occurred Friday at 5 P.M. when a northbound 2008 BMW driven by 27-year-old Christopher Bardasian of St. Louis, Missouri apparently crossed the center line and hit a southbound 2000 Ford Ranger driven by 19-year-old Jessica Ruiz. Her vehicle burst into flames and she died at the scene.

Police say Bardasian suffered extensive injuries and was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital where he is in stable condition as of Monday morning. A passenger in Bardasian's car was also injured. He is identified as 65-year-old Richard Weigandt of Minster, Ohio.

Syracuse Fire, Syracuse EMS, Syracuse Police, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Lutheran Air Ambulance, and Samaritan Air Ambulance assisted the Kosciusko County FACT Team at the scene. This crash remains under investigation at this time.
