Columbia City Man Dies Cleaning Up Storm Damage

By Kurt Deffenbaugh

Columbia City, IN (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A Columbia City man is dead after he was apparently struck by a large tree branch as he was trying to move it.
The Whitley County Coroner's office reports that John A. Clifford, 52, was killed Thursday afternoon near Columbia City High School, where he worked as a custodian.
The report says Clifford was using a bucket loader to try to move a large branch that had been knocked down by a recent storm. Somehow, the branch struck Clifford as he was working.
An autopsy is planned for Friday.
