NEAR AUBURN, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A portion of State Road 8 just east of Auburn was closed for several hours Wednesday night as police worked to clear a three-vehicle crash caused by a truck driver who was allegedly drunk with a blood-alchol level about 3 times higher than the legal limit.

51 year old Tommy Ridgway of Avilla lost control of his semi on the highway around 7:30 P.M.. Police say the semi first struck 41 year old Justin Zink's car and knocked it into a ditch. The truck then fell on its side and struck a second vehicle, pushing them both into a field. The semi's cargo of groceries spilled into the field. During the incident, the semi also took out two telephone poles, a mailbox and landscaping.

Two Cromwell men in the second truck were hospitalized. The driver, 20 year old Bobby Lee Zuniga is in stable condition, and his passenger, 38 year old Armando Martinez is in critical condition. The driver of the first car that was hit, 41 year old Justin Zink of Harlan was not seriouly hurt.

Rescuers had to pull Ridgway from the semi's wreckage and hospitalize him in stable condition. He faces criminal charges as police say his blood-alcohol content was tested at .22%, about three times the legal limit.
