Obama Urges Americans Not To Panic Over Economy

By Scott Sarvay

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Democratic presidential candidate Barack
Obama is urging Americans not to panic over the faltering economy.

Campaigning in Indianapolis today, Obama said better days lie
ahead for the nation.

He spoke to several thousand people at the State Fairgrounds
Coliseum and acknowledged public anxiety over the financial crisis.

But he said now is a time for leadership, not fear or panic.

Obama also criticized Republican rival John McCain's economic
and health care plans, saying they will continue the policies of
President Bush. He said his ideas are better. Obama said America
has come through other challenges, and that we can steer ourselves
out of the current problems.
