Indiana Panel To Again Consider School Start Dates

By Rachel Agler

INDIANAPOLIS (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A state legislative committee will discuss school start dates at a meeting Monday.

Chaired by Republican Senator Dennis Kruse of Auburn, the "Interim Study Committee on Education" took testimony on the issue last month.

Kruse has reportedly asked the committee to consider two proposals.

One would prohibit schools from starting earlier than the fourth Monday in August.

The other would require school to start after Labor Day.

Some education lobbyists say start dates should be a local decision.
