Japanese actress Rie Miyazawa, whose ill-fated romance with a top sumo wrestler in her teenage days made headlines, is pregnant and set to marry her entrepreneur boyfriend, a report said Friday.

Miyazawa, 35, who starred in the Oscar-nominated 2002 film "Twilight Samurai," is expecting the baby in June and will marry the father soon, the Sports Nippon said.

Her partner is an entrepreneur who frequently travels between Japan and the United States, the tabloid paper said without identifying the man or its sources.

Miyazawa, a former child model, is one of Japan's leading actresses.

She has gained further publicity for releasing a nude photobook that posted phenomenal sales and for her troubled personal life.

High-ranking sumo wrestler Takanohana broke off their engagement in 1992 at the pinnacle of Miyazawa's popularity.

She avoided the limelight for a while but made a steady comeback in recent years, winning best actress award in the 2001 Moscow International Film Festival for Hong Kong movie "Peony Pavilion."

She performed the role of a samurai wife in "Twilight Samurai," which was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2002.

Her agent declined comment on the report.
