SAN FRANCISCO (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – Mother nature put the Oracle Sailing team to a test during some practice time on Monday that caused one crew member to go to the hospital.
Four-time America's Cup champion Russell Coutts capsized his 45-foot catamaran during a practice race in the San Francisco Bay.
One member of the crew had to be examined by paramedics and taken to a hospital for X-rays.
Everyone else was unharmed and the boat appears to be no worse for wear.
San Francisco Bay is a tricky place to sail and the Oracle team was prepping for the America’s Cup sailing race that’s two years away.
Sailing the San Francisco Bay is considered one of the toughest waterways in the world and cup teams are learning that lesson quickly.
