INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – A new awareness campaign was launched Tuesday to bring statewide attention and increased awareness to the No Texting While Driving law.

Indiana State Senator Travis Holdman (R-Markle) sponsored the law that went into effect July 1. The new campaign will use the dynamic message signs along major roads and highways across Indiana to remind drivers about the ban. Many Hoosiers are still not aware of the law.

“In order for this new law to help make our roads safer by deterring drivers from the dangerous practice of texting while driving, people have to be aware of it,” Holdman said. “Thousands of drivers will see these signs in the next few days as they drive on major thoroughfares around the state, which will help reduce the number of people texting behind the wheel and make all Hoosiers safer on the road.”

Wile the law bans drivers of any age from texting or emailing while driving, motorists can still use hands-free devices to send messages and make phone calls.
