NEW HAVEN, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Five people associated with American Legion Post 330 in New Haven are in trouble with the law, accused of taking part in a scheme to steal bingo profits.

Lana and Kenneth Brooks, Steven Bouse, John Gahan and James Schultz face a variety of felony charges.

State gaming officials say they discovered somewhere around one-million dollars from bingo and pull tabs that was supposed to be turned over to charity was instead pocketed by those operating or working at the weekly event.

That represents about 40 percent of the net income from the bingo operation.

At least four of the five defendants are scheduled to be in court Friday.
