FORT WAYNE, IN (Indiana's Newscenter) A local family has waited nearly a year for a headstone to be placed on a grave site. In Your Corner takes a look into the problem.

In a little more than two weeks, Mindy Reynolds and her family will mourn on the one-year anniversary of the passing of their mother, Lois Funk. Last September, they ordered a headstone, but several months later, an orange flag was all that could be found at the grave site.

"I don't feel I can go here and grieve my mother. It feels incomplete", said Mindy Reynolds.

When they paid for the headstone, they were told it would take three to four months. After a number of delays, they contacted us in late July, more than ten months after the funeral.

Tri State Memorials was contracted to do the work. They have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau with a complaint filed for "delivery issues". Company officials told the family the site was accidentally skipped in the fall and it was too wet this spring, In July, the family decided to pay a worker from Concordia Cemetery to dig their own footer. Two weeks ago, Tri-State told us the job was scheduled to be finished and this week, the long awaited headstone arrived.

Mindy says, "it's about my Mom. She was so giving. She deserves to have a place where we can visit with her."

We've dealt with similar stories in the past where frustrated family members wait for a headstone to be placed. Since the majority of the money is often paid up front, there are not many easy resolutions, but being persistent, like in this case, often pays off.
