FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - A new study by Hunger in America reveals one in eight people in central and southern Indiana rely on food banks to make ends meet.
Of the 260,000 people estimated to require the assistance, 97,000 were children.
Officials with Community Harvest Food Bank say those numbers are consistent for northeast Indiana, as well.
In the last year, they have provided assistance for roughly 90,000 residents in our area, most of whom only needed help on a temporary basis.
