ROCKFORD, Ohio. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Emergency personnel Northwest Ohio had their hands full Saturday night and early Sunday morning working three separate crashes, two of which were fatal.

Mercer County authorities were called around 7 p.m. Saturday to a single-vehicle crash near Tama Road & Wabash Road in Rockford. Police say Steven Kable, 37, of Celina, Ohio, swerved while taking a curve, slid sideways, hit a telephone pole and rolled his vehicle multiple times into a cornfield. Kable, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle, and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say while they contacted the horses' owner a vehicle driven by Noland Kirk, 63, of Fort Wayne, crashed into some of the horse standing in the middle of the roadway. Kirk's vehicle flipped on its top, and slid into a cornfield. Kirk, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from his car, and died at the scene.

Two minutes after the Kirk crash, another vehicle drove through the scene, hitting two horses lying on State Road 49.

A passenger in the car, Kathleen Dolan, 38, of Monroe, Ind., was taken to a hospital; her condition has not been released.
