HAMILTON, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A Butler man suffers severe head trauma in a motorcycle crash in Steuben County.

The Steuben County Sheriff's Department says Stacy Shirk, 36, was heading northbound on S.R. 1 near Hamilton Lake Lane 101, when he lost control of his motorcycle, slid off the road and collided with a wooden sign post. He was not wearing a helmet.

Shirk was flown to a Fort Wayne hospital in critical condition.

Police say excessive speed and alcohol could be factors in the crash.
