MUQER, Afghanistan (Indiana's NewsCenter) - The Department of Defense announced Saturday the death of a Hoosier soldier in Afghanistan.

Army Sgt. Kyle B. Osborn, 26, of Lafayette, was killed in combat on Thursday. Defense officials say Osborn was part of a unit attacked by insurgents using rocket-propelled grenades and small arms fire.

Osborn, a 2005 Lafayette McCutcheon High School graduate, was stationed in Vicenza, Italy.
