FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society crowned its annual Man & Woman of the Year at the organization's annual gala Friday night.

The gala is the biggest fundraiser of the year for LLS. Money raised goes towards cancer research. 21Alive's Stephanie Parkinson was honored to be the emcee for the event.

Candidates for the 2013 LLS Man & Woman of the Year raised a combined $200,000 prior to Friday night's gala, which supersedes the $175,000 goal.

"When I saw the totals the other day, they blow me away," Jill Sample, 2012 LLS Woman of the Year, says. "I just can't say enough about what that means."

More funds were raised through auctions at the gala.

Beth Schrader was crowned 2013 Woman of the Year, raising $77,000.

Todd Smith, who raised $46,000, was crowned Man of the Year.

The final tally for the 10-week campaign totaled $287,000.
