CELINA, Ohio (www.incnow.tv) - Celina police chief David Slusser has been fired, days after waiving his rights to a hearing on misconduct allegations.
Slusser has been the subject of a probe dating back to February where he allegedly took prescribed medication that was part of an investigation.
In a statement announcing Slusser's termination, Mayor Jeffrey Hazel, R-Celina, and Celina Safety-Service Director Thomas Hitchcock say by virtue of Slusser waiving his right to a predisciplinary conference, Slusser admitted to the allegations against him.
"Because of your actions, failure to act and your dishonesty," Hazel's and Hitchcock's joint letter to Slusher says, "you have violated the sancity of the public's trust."
Slusser's termination is effective 5 p.m. Friday. Celina city employment policies allow Slusser to appeal within ten days of the termination, the letter says.
No interim contingency plan was given for when Slusser is fired.
