A federal judge says the man accused of killing six people and injuring 13 others, including congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in a January shooting rampage in Arizona, can be made mentally fit to stand trial, according to a USA Today story.
At a hearing Wednesday, the judge said "measurable progress has been made" in restoring Jared Loughner to competency. A prison psychologist said Loughner, who faces 49 federal charges stemming from the shooting, could be mentally able to stand trial in eight months, according to the report.
