LIGONIER, Ind. (21Alive) - A man is dead and another hospitalized in a Saturday afternoon crash in Ligonier.

Around 5:15, the Noble County Sheriff's Department says Oscar Rodriguez, 24, of Cromwell, was driving his 2005 Lincoln LLS east in the 800 block of Morton St., when he lost control of the car.

Rodriguez drove off the street, over-corrected, slid across traffic, drove through a ditch and hit a tree on the north side of Morton Street, police say.

Alcohol is a factor in the crash, according to police.

Oscar Rodriguez died at the scene.

A passenger, Karol Rodriguez, 21, of Ligonier, was flown to a Fort Wayne hospital with upper body and leg injuries. His condition is unknown.
